Warren Equipment Company Dependent Scholarship
Johnny Warren, our company’s founder, believed that higher education was one of the keys to furthering an individual’s personal and professional growth and success. He knew that the ongoing pursuit of higher education was important not only for our employees, but for their children as well.
Jim and Mary Pat Nelson, along with their daughters, share that same commitment to their employees and they are proud to continue to support the Warren Equipment Company Dependent Scholarship Program. Since the program’s inception in 1995, this scholarship has awarded nearly $800,000 to children of Warren Equipment Company Employees.
Scholarship awards are based on grades, family income, employee tenure, and student extra-curricular activities. Qualification criteria, details, and application information can be found in the links below.

1) Dependents of WEC employees are eligible at the beginning of each fall and spring semester.
- Applications are accepted from September 1st thru 15th for the fall semester and January 16th thru 31st for the spring semester.
- Scholarships are not awarded for summer sessions.
2) An employee must have completed two years of service by the beginning of the semester for dependents to be eligible.
- If employment with Warren Equipment terminates, the dependent scholarship will be forfeited.
3) Qualifications (Financial Need and/or Academic Achievement)

In order for dependents just beginning college to qualify, they must graduate from high school with:
- At least a “B” average, or;
- Score a minimum of 833 on the SAT, or;
- Score a minimum of 15 on the ACT.

College students must have had a minimum 2.5 GPA the previous semester and a 2.5 cumulative GPA in order to remain eligible. Each semester the student must apply and be re-evaluated.
- If a student’s ends the current semester with a GPA below a 2.5, then they are not eligible for the scholarship program the next semester. Once their semester and cumulative GPA is 2.5 or above, then they will be eligible apply for scholarship the following semester.

Scholarships apply to classes leading to an undergraduate degree from any accredited academic community college, 4 year accredited academic college, university, or trade school.

A student must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours to receive the scholarship.
- If students fail to complete a minimum of 12 credit hours, they are not eligible to participate in the program for the next semester.
4) Scholarships cover the cost of tuition and fees as well as book costs. Scholarships will be paid each semester upon receipt and approval of the submitted application less any other grants/scholarships paid to the student. Scholarships do not cover fees for:
- Orientation
- Parking
- Athletic or optional activity fees
- Yearbooks
- Supplies and equipment other than books
5) Students will be eligible for the scholarship for 5 years immediately following high school graduation only.
6) Expenses must total a minimum of $250.00 per student for the fall or spring semesters before an award will be made.
First-time applicants will need to submit the following supporting documents in order to be considered.
- One of the following:
- High School Transcript showing GPA/Grade
- ACT/SAT Score
- College Degree Plan
- Current Semester Schedule
- Employee’s IRS Form 1040 (page 1 only)
- College Account Statement
Returning applicants will need to submit the following supporting documents in order to be considered.
- Previous Spring/Fall semester’s GPA and cumulative GPA
- Current semester schedule
- Employee’s IRS Form 1040 (page 1 only)
- College Account Statement
